These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website operated under the trading name Lantern Publications by Lantern Publications (ABN [ABN]) ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About us

Lantern Publications is a publishing imprint operating from 85 Hemsworth Ave, Middleton Grange, NSW 2171. We publish, distribute, and sell books in physical and digital formats, accept proposals from authors and translators, and accept voluntary contributions in support of forthcoming projects.

2. Use of the website

You agree to use this website lawfully and not to interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, transmit malicious code, or use the site to harass, defame, or infringe the rights of others. We may suspend or restrict access without notice where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.

3. Orders and payments

Book orders placed through our website are processed via our payment partners. All prices are listed in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable. Acceptance of an order is at our discretion; we reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, including for reasons of pricing error, stock unavailability, or suspected fraud.

Risk in physical goods passes to you on dispatch. Title remains with us until full payment has been received.

4. Shipping and delivery

Estimated shipping times are indicative only. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs, or other circumstances beyond our control. International customers are responsible for any import duties, taxes, or fees levied in their country.

5. Returns and refunds

Where required by the Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a replacement, repair, or refund for goods that are faulty, not as described, or not of acceptable quality. Please contact us at info@lanternpublications.com within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return. We may require return of the goods at your cost where the issue is not the result of a defect.

6. Voluntary contributions (Sadaqa Jāriya)

Contributions made through our "Forthcoming Projects" pages are voluntary gifts in support of our publishing programme. Lantern Publications is not a registered charity and contributions are not tax-deductible in Australia. Where a tier includes a tangible reward (such as a complimentary signed copy), the value of that reward is included in the contribution amount and GST applies.

Recurring (monthly) contributions continue until cancelled by you via the Stripe Customer Portal link provided in your confirmation email. Refunds of one-off contributions may be requested within 14 days; refunds of recurring contributions apply to the most recent payment only and are at our discretion.

7. Author, translator, and distributor submissions

Submissions made through our recruitment forms are reviewed at our editorial discretion. Submitting a proposal does not create any contractual obligation on our part. We will not share unsolicited material with third parties, and we may retain a copy of submitted information for our records and for future reference. Please do not send original or sole-copy manuscripts.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, book covers, and design elements — is the property of Lantern Publications, our authors, translators, illustrators, and licensors, and is protected by Australian and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial reference.

9. Third-party links and services

Our website may link to third-party websites and services (including payment processors, distribution partners, and event ticketing platforms). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those sites. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the website is limited to, at our option, the resupply of goods or services or the cost of resupply. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any guarantees, rights, or remedies that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL, with the "Last updated" date shown above. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
